All India Network Project on Vertebrate Pest Management

Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi recognized the importance of bird management in the agricultural landscape and launched an All India Coordinated Research Project on Agricultural Ornithology at five centers in 1982. Eventually two more centers were added one each at Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur and Dr. YSP University of Horticulture & Forestry, Solan during IX Plan period. This AICRP was also rechristened as AINP during this Plan period. During X plan 2 centres MPAU & T, Kota and Dr. YSPUH&F, Soaln were dropped, however during XI plan two new centres in north eastern hill region viz., AAU (RARS), North Lakhimpur (Assam) and CAU (CH&F), Phasighat (Arunanchal Pradesh) were added. During XII two new centres at College of Forestry, Dr BSKVV, Dapoli and NMC, Thriuchy has been started. The scheme with its 08 centres located in various agroclimatic zone of country working as component of AINP on Vertebrate Pest Management with CAZRI, Jodhpur as Coordinating Unit.
